About Montgomery Lock & Key Inc

In May of 1993, out of a little garage on Dunn Drive here in Montgomery, Montgomery Lock & Key was born! From there, we moved into our first brick-and-mortar store at 5510X Wares Ferry Road, and finally, our current location at 131 Eastdale Road South. Today, we are owned and operated by the very same family that started Montgomery's #1 locksmith service! On any given day, you can walk into our shop and often find four generations of our family ready to serve you!

Technician Certifications

In the ever-changing world of physical security, education is a must. We at Montgomery Lock & Key value education and encourage our technicians to get certifications to further their knowledge and skill to help you! Our technicians hold the following individual certifications:

• CLL - Certified Licensed Locksmith. All of our technicians earn the CLL certification. It is a requirement per the Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure. Technicians go through a 5 day course and are required to pass a knowledge test to earn this certification.
• CRL - Certified Registered Locksmith. Our owner holds a CRL certification. This certification is given out by the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA). To earn this certification, technicians must go through several elective courses and pass a more advanced knowledge test than the one required for the CLL.
• CAL - Certified Automotive Locksmith. Our lead automotive technician is one of the only CAL's in the whole state! This certification is given out by the International Association of Automotive Locksmiths (a division of ALOA). To earn this certification, technicians must pass a test showing proficiency and knowledge of all automotive lock systems, including transponder systems.
• CPL - Certified Professional Locksmith. Our lead safe technician is a CPL! This is the next level above the CRL. It requires additional electives and an even more advanced test.
• CMST - Certified Master Safe Technician. Our lead safe technician is also a CMST. This is the highest level a safe technician can acquire. This level requires extremely in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of safes and vaults.
• GSA - Government Services Administration. Our lead safe technician is also GSA certified. This allows him to open, service, and install locks on government-level security containers.
• OSHA-10 - Our lead automotive locksmith has also passed the OSHA 10-hour certification. This is vital for servicing manufacturing facilities and other industrial sites that may have OSHA requirements.
• AFDI - ALOA Fire Door Inspector. Our lead automotive technician is also an ALOA Fire Door Inspector. Fire doors have very specific rules and regulations and are required to be inspected annually to ensure proper function in the case of a fire. For more information, click here.
• Access Control - All of our technicians have an access control endorsement on their licenses. The AESBL requires technicians to be access control certified even if they are simply changing a 9V battery in an exit alarm.
